Grandpa Carl was energetic to say the least. He was always on the go. When he was 79 he helped my dad and me build a fence. Now I’m not talking about a little fence around the yard. I’m talking about a line fence used to separate farms that covers acres! We were out there for two days in the middle of summer climbing up and down the steep hillsides of Southwest Wisconsin. It was backbreaking work, and grandpa Carl was there every step of the way.

My grandpa Lyle, on the other hand, was kind of active. He liked to hunt and fish. He liked to drink a little and smoke. But he never concerned himself too much with his health. Unfortunately he spent the last 10 years of his life hooked up to an oxygen tank and had to get around by wheelchair. His body was so oxygen deprived that if you put any pressure on his skin at all it would bruise almost instantly. He was confined to a prison with no walls… his own body!

Grandpa Lyle passed away trying to get out of his chair one morning. Grandpa Carl, on the other hand, passed away while mowing his lawn on the second hottest day of that particular summer (he was a little bullheaded, when it’s time to mow it’s time to mow).

Our programs are outcome driven. This means in six months you will have arrived someplace significant, as compared to showing up for some classes at the “Y” and hoping you go somewhere with it.

At Karate America all our adult students are very like minded in their quest to better themselves. It creates a unique synergy within the group that becomes like a family atmosphere. Because of this we only accept students who are looking to have fun while challenging themselves physically and mentally. This will be a life-changing experience for you. We want you to have the best experience possible.

If you haven’t worked out in a long time, it’s about you getting back into shape. If your doctor said you need to get more exercise, it’s about you being around for a long time to enjoy your children and your grandchildren. If you are physically active, it’s about adding to your agility, balance, coordination, and endurance.
